Before and After school

Before & After School

LATCH-KEY BEFORE SCHOOL PROGRAM

Our Latchkey building opens at 7:30 a.m. The children are allowed to free play until the bus arrives at 8:30 a.m.

LATCH-KEY AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAM

The afternoon bus arrives at 3:30 p.m. and all children are greeted by a staff member as they disembark. The children enter the building, put away their items in their cubbies, and prepare for snack time. Children are then provided with several activity choices. Each day there are different activities in art, outdoor play, indoor play, computer time, and homework help. If you would like your child to begin their homework, please supply them with a pencil case with the necessary school supplies.

NON-SCHOOL DAYS/VACATION/SUMMER PROGRAM

Over the summer and during the school year on non-school days, half days, and vacation days, we provide our children with a full day of organized activities. We also provide breakfast, lunch, and an afternoon snack. In addition, we will schedule organized field trips and special events to keep your children engaged.

At the Center we have a “NO” toy policy! We provide a great supply of developmentally appropriate toys for children to play and learn. When children bring toys from home they are lost, broken and sometimes not age appropriate. Throughout the year we will have “sharing” day so the children can bring a toy to share with their friends. We have a “NO” toy gun and weapon policy! Videos and DVD’s may be brought in for quiet time; however, the staff or Center is not responsible for lost or damaged items.

We provide a variety of age-appropriate toys and activities that will not only entertain your child, but also offer opportunities to learn additional skills.

When the weather cooperates we will spend time outdoors, ranging from a brief walk when it is fairly cool to an hour or two in the summer.

Our focus is not only on education, but also on respect for one another and respect for property. Our disciplinary measures always begin with a warning. The next step is “time out” (one minute per year of age), then we follow up with a discussion to explain why that behavior was inappropriate. If the behavior continues, we separate the child from the other children with a quiet activity (books, puzzles, etc.). Children are never punished for lapses in toilet training or for accidents (spilled milk, for example). We will always bring out standing issues to your attention, and hope you will reinforce our efforts at home. Our staff is here to support our families in every way possible. Please do not hesitate to ask questions or give suggestions regarding your child’s care.
